FK816 Variable Regulator 0-50v: Adding NPN pass transistors (1284 views)

8 Dec 2020 09:06

Dear Sir,

I received an assembled FK816 and it works good by itself. I'm trying to use this board as the voltage regulator for a 28v regulated supply for 20 amps current. As the FK816 is only rated for 3 amps I want to connect Outboard Pass Transistor: Two NPN 2n3772 in parallel.

How should I connect the FK816 output to the pass transistors. I recognize that:

FK816 DC+ output to Base of 2N3772.

Collector of 2N3772 to unregulated DC+ output

The FK816 + output goes to Pass Transistor Base; 2n3772 Collector to Unregulated DC+.

Should there be any connection (Resistance) between the FK816 + output and the Collector of pass transistors?

Should there be any connection (Resistance) between the FK816 + output and the Emitter of the pass transistors?

Thank you,

I like the regulator board it works well.
