Here is an easily assembled and instructive project for applying a pyroelectric infrared (PIR) detector in a familiar application. Because the FK512 picks up the radiation from humans and animals it does not require an IR transmitter to provide a signal. The on-board compound, fresnel lens to improve the PIR sensitivity.
